12 questions to ask your dentist before you fly
Questions for the dentist, not the sales team. Ask them by video call or email, and keep the answers in writing.
Before you book treatment in Antalya, ask the dentist who will treat you: their registration number and training, how many of your treatment they have done, who does each stage, what materials and implant brand they will use, what happens if something goes wrong, and how aftercare works once you are home in the UK.
Clinic coordinators are often friendly and quick to reply, but they are not dentists. These questions are for the dentist who will actually work on your teeth. Ask them on a video call or by email, and keep the answers.
About the dentist
- “Will you treat me yourself, at every stage?” Get the name of each dentist who will be involved, and what each one does.
- “What is your Turkish Dental Association registration number?” Every practising dentist in Turkey has one.
- “Where did you qualify, and do you have a specialist title?” See what Turkish titles mean.
- “How many of this treatment have you done?” Ask about your treatment specifically: All-on-6 is not the same as single implants.
- “Can I see examples of your own work?” Your dentist’s cases, not the clinic’s best.
About your plan
- “Why this treatment for me, and what are the alternatives?” A good dentist explains options, including doing less.
- “Which implant brand, and what will the teeth be made of?” A UK dentist will need the brand to service the implants later.
- “How much of my natural teeth will you remove?” Especially for veneers and crowns.
- “What could make the price change once I arrive?” Bone grafts, sinus lifts and extra implants are the usual reasons.
About problems and aftercare
- “What happens if something goes wrong while I am in Antalya?”
- “What happens if something goes wrong after I am home?” Ask what the guarantee covers, and whether you must fly back to use it.
- “Can you give me my records?” X-rays, scans, the implant brand and size, and the lab details, for your UK dentist.

Common questions
Is it rude to ask a dentist for their registration number?
No. It is a normal, sensible question, and a good dentist will answer it straight away.
Should I speak to the dentist or the coordinator?
Both. Coordinators organise the trip; only the dentist can answer questions about your treatment. Ask for a video call with the dentist who will treat you.
