Treatment in Antalya is part trip, part recovery. Here is how to plan the travel around what your dentist needs.

Plan your dates around your dentist's appointments, rest between them rather than sightseeing, eat soft food after surgery, and only fly home after your dentist's final check. Getting there
Antalya has direct flights from many UK airports, about four hours. The clinic area of the city is a short drive from the airport. Check the GOV.UK travel advice for Türkiye before you book, including its health section on medical tourism.
Plan the dates with your dentist
Do not book flights until your dentist has given you an appointment plan. Implant surgery, check appointments and the final check need to fit inside your stay, with a spare day if possible. For veneers and crowns, about a week is typical. Read treatment timelines.
Between appointments
- Rest after surgery. Treat the first two days like recovering from a minor operation.
- Stay out of strong sun and the sea or pool for the first days after surgery.
- No alcohol or smoking while healing.
- Soft, cool food. Soups, yoghurt, eggs, mashed vegetables. Avoid very hot, spicy or crunchy food.
- Keep your phone charged and the clinic’s number saved.
Flying home
Most patients fly home a few days after implant surgery. Wait for your dentist’s final check, which looks at healing, stitches and your bite. Take your painkillers and aftercare instructions in your hand luggage. Read the last appointment before you fly.
Insurance
Standard travel insurance usually excludes planned medical treatment abroad. Ask your insurer directly, and consider specialist cover for medical travel. Make sure you know what happens, and who pays, if you need to stay longer.

Common questions
Does my travel insurance cover dental treatment?
Most standard policies do not cover planned treatment abroad or its complications. Ask your insurer, and look for specialist medical travel cover if you need it.
Can I go sightseeing?
On quiet days, gently. After surgery, rest, avoid sun, alcohol and swimming, and stay close to the clinic.
When can I fly home after surgery?
After your dentist's final check, usually a few days after surgery. Ask them to confirm.
Should I bring someone with me?
If you can, yes, especially for implant surgery. A companion helps with appointments, notes and the days of recovery.
